Opening of Maui Plein Air Painting Invitational – February 15

Join us during the Maui Plein Air Painting Invitational (MPAPI).  For 9 days you will be able to watch 24 acclaimed artists create artworks that will be inspirational and memorable.  Whether watching the artists create their paintings, strolling through the ‘outdoor’ galleries during the paint outs, or attending the art sales, you have the opportunity to view as well as buy original art at affordable prices.  With 16 art events and 7 art sales there are plenty of opportunities for you to embrace fine art.   The event starts Saturday, Feb. 15 with the Lahaina Harbor Kick Off and Art Sale at Pioneer Inn.

Monday, February 17th provides the community an opportunity to attend an art lecture, ‘Famous ForgersAn absorbing look at famous and little known art forgers over the past century.’ by Jean Stern, Senior Curator of California Impressionism, UCI IMCA. The lecture is held in the Pioneer Inn Courtyard.

In addition, the popular Mini-Paintings Silent Auction is held in the Snug Harbor Room at Pioneer Inn that evening as well. The mini paintings, brought from the artists’ home studios, provide an opportunity for those wanting to purchase a treasured artwork from one of their favorite artists or to start their personal art collection at affordable prices. Silent auction opening bid is ½ of retail or $450, whichever is higher. The buy-it-now price is 125% of the retail price set by the artist.

During the event, arts sales showcase 24 paintings at each of the three paint out sales and 120+ paintings at the Art to Heart Gala.  View our schedule for details and plan to join in activities that  ‘Celebrate Art on Maui’.
