Best In Show Award: Ken Auster

Great event, great paintings, huge crowds. None of the participants nor attendees let the wind and rain get them ‘down and out’. From looking at the paintings one would think it was a typical sun shiny week in West Maui. Thirteen awards were given out with the Best In Show going to Ken Auster from California. BIS Award winner received a $1000 cash award from the event sponsors (Islanders, Hawaii, Plein Air Painters; The Village Galleries, and West Maui Cultural Council). In addition, BIS received a half page ad in Plein Air Magazine and a half page ad in Southwest Art. All three BIS recognition gifts were new for the Maui Plein Air Painting Invitational this year.
Congratulations to the award winners and to all the artists for their beautiful entries. The paintings this year are the best collection of paintings we have had in 8 years.
