David Savellano is a watercolor artist who paints primarily en plein air. He paints and sketches urban street scenes and nature settings with an appealing loose style punctuated with a bit of controlled detail. He enjoys the challenges of capturing the energy, drama and mood of unpredictable moments, such as changing light and atmosphere.
David is a native Californian who lives in the Bay Area. His 40 years as a practicing architect gave him the drawing skills needed to beautifully render the scenes he paints and the speed needed to deal with the changing light and weather conditions when painting outdoors with watercolor.
He studied with contemporary watercolor masters Joseph Zbukvic and Jerry Stitt, who were very influential in his artistic development. He teaches small classes and provides expert instruction to help students improve their artistic skills and knowledge.
