
CASH GRANT FUNDS available for Maui artists who were affected by the August 8, 2023 fire.
Description of Program: Cash funds are available to Maui artists and art teachers who lost their homes, studios, art inventory during the August 2023 fires in Lahaina and Upcountry Maui. The net proceeds from the sale of the first release of (1500 books) of Remembering Lahaina will be distributed through cash grants to Maui artists. Thirteen Remembering Lahiana book sponsors covered the expense of book development, production, and printing of the first release. We thank them for them help; Arts Education for Children Group, Theresa Daly, Lois Dimpfel, Janesville Art League, Rock County Historical Society, Jonathan Kindred, Loucks Family Foundation, Laurie Lowson, Makana Aloha Foundation, Mary Anne Fitch & Nam L. Le Viet, Sentry Insurance, Mr. & Mrs. Jean Stern, Tina Woodward & Lynda Elliott, and Friends of Maui Arts League. A special ‘mahalo’ to those who purchased the book.

If you were impacted by the fires, please complete the following Request for Funds form. If you know other artists that were affected by the fires, please forward this Request for Funds Form. Funds will be distributed based on need. Knowing many received FEMA funds and other funds from philanthropic organizations, we encourage those that did not receive funds to participate. If you did receive funds and still need additional assistance, you may request funds as well.

- Complete Request for Funds Form – Applications open August 8, 2025 to September 15, 2025.
- Maui Arts League Program Committee Review submissions
- Maui Arts League Program Committee interviews selected artists
- Cash Grant disbursements to selected artists via check
